Who we are
YEnergy is an independent Texas energy information site operated by Spicewood Secure Storage LLC in Spicewood, Texas. We publish plain-English guides on electricity plans, solar, home backup power and smart-home energy savings so Texas households can make better decisions.
YEnergy is not an electricity provider, solar installer, utility, retailer or government agency. We don't sell electricity or equipment, and we don't handle enrollments, quotes or orders. When you click through to a partner, you complete everything on the partner's website.
Affiliate disclosure: how we make money
In plain terms: some links on YEnergy are affiliate or referral links. If you click one and sign up, request a quote or buy something, we may be paid a commission or referral fee by that company. It costs you nothing extra and never changes the price you are quoted.
In line with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's guidance on endorsements and reviews, we disclose these relationships near the top of every page that contains affiliate links, and we mark such links with the rel="sponsored" attribute.
Types of relationships we may have:
- Electricity comparison and enrollment partners that pay a fee when you complete an enrollment with a Texas retail electricity provider.
- Solar marketplaces and installers that pay for qualified leads or completed projects.
- Retailers and brands of batteries, power stations, generators, thermostats and other products that pay a commission on sales, including Amazon.
Amazon Associates statement: As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
Because we are paid when you take certain actions, we have a financial incentive to point you to partners that pay us. We try to balance that with editorial rules, below.
Editorial standards
- Our guides are written to help you decide. If an option isn't a good fit for most Texans, we say so.
- Partners cannot pay to change what our guides say, and they don't review our content before publication.
- We use official sources such as the Public Utility Commission of Texas, the U.S. Department of Energy, the IRS and the Consumer Product Safety Commission for facts that matter.
- We date our pages and update them when rules or prices change.
- Not every available plan, product or company is listed. Our partners may not include every provider in Texas. Compare broadly, including the state's official site, powertochoose.org.
Not professional advice
Content on YEnergy is general information, not financial, tax, legal, engineering or safety advice. Prices, incentives and rules change. Always verify with the company, your utility or the relevant agency before you decide.
